i’m not a rotory guy. However i know what low compression sounds like an man i don’t think it has enough. Aren’t the rx8s known for the apex seals going bad relatively fast?

as a previous rx8 owner, you have a bad coolant seal causing coolant to pool in the combustion chamber, it will start you just need to crank for like hours genuinely clear out all the coolant and get that bih runnin

everyone saying apex seals have never owned a rotary. if the apex seals actually go bad it'd be significantly worse, but if this car sat there are springs behind all the seals in the motor that push them against the face of the housing to create compression, but if it sat they can get stuck with carbon build up. change the oil and put MMO in it to try and bust the carbon

get it compression tested with an actual rotary tester, if it has compression it may be flooded from repeated start attempts. these flood easy. you can either a. hold the gas to the floor and crank it in 10 second intervals until it clears out and starts. or b. remove fuel pump fuse and a spark plug and crank it until all excess fuel has been blown out the spark plug hole. either way is going to take roughly 40 minutes to an hour depending on tools/resouces/how bad the flood really is.

Compression test before you go any further best way to reach the plugs is by removing the driver side wheel and the oil leak is probably the oil pan almost every rx8 has an oil pan leak

If it ran before, and it sat for that long, it’s gonna take a while to start regardless you can try dumping some two-stroke straight into the cylinders and it bumps up the compression just for that first start
