When I woke up from heart surgery, I told my mom that I had seen the operating room from above, like I was looking down from the ceiling. I described the number of nurses, where they were standing, and what each of them was doing. I remember it so vividly every detail and the feeling that came with it. To this day it’s a memory or experience I can’t shake

Fun fact. Anesthesia is one of those fields where we understand SOME of the science, but we really do not understand what exactly is happening with awareness during it. You aren’t actually asleep or unconscious as we typically think of it for the majority of the time. It’s pretty fucking wild.

There have been studies where they randomly put sign in above the ceilings in the ORs in hospitals. I don’t think anything conclusive came from it but I know I worked at one hospital with it because many years later maintenance did work and found a sign.

Hey so there have in fact been real studies performed using pretty much that same method and the success rate of the patient’s guess actually being accurate was on par with pure chance, aka completely random. So no, you’re wrong

Surgery is definitely daunting when it’s your first time. Granted I didn’t have heart surgery or anything serious, but mine was quick and easy and it literally was just a quick nap. I woke up feeling refreshed, didn’t say or do anything weird or funny coming out of anesthesia and it was just one second I was awake on the table, they put the mask on me and the next second I woke up in recovery lol. That’s the case with MOST surgeries that aren’t serious, so if you needed a sign that you will be okay, here it is.

Was in and out for my heart surgery. I remember joking around with my anesthesia guy and at one point complaining my ‘heart was itchy’. Very odd experience. 8/10 recommend

I woke up during surgery, asked them to put on some music and went back to sleep 😭😅 I remember that moment very vividly and I don't recall feeling any pain. To this day I don't know why I said that 😅

I remember being up high in the air maybe like 100 ft. Kind of hovering in some bubble thing that no one else could see. I saw this really pretty lady with three little kids, walking on the sidewalk in front of Treasure Islands’ pirate show in Las Vegas, and I remember thinking “I pick her. I want her to be my mom”. I know I picked my family before I was born as crazy as it sounds.
