@geovannyvicenter: Is Trump behind the Freedom Plaza restoration? Why did it take 13 years to fix this fountain in DC? The Freedom Plaza Fountain is one of the most symbolic urban spaces in downtown Washington D.C., located along Pennsylvania Avenue NW between the White House and the U.S. Capitol. The National Park Service, through its initiative “Advancing Major Park Beautification and Infrastructure Improvements across Washington, D.C. – National Mall and Memorial Parks,” restored the Freedom Plaza fountain, which had been turned off since 2013. Freedom Plaza in D.C. has reopened with a working fountain and statue exhibition. Designed as part of the original city plan by Pierre L’Enfant, Freedom Plaza is known for its massive marble surface engraved with the historic layout of the nation’s capital. The area also features public art, sculptures, and commemorative elements that reflect the political and cultural identity of the United States. The central fountain has experienced periods of inactivity in recent years, which has sparked public discussion about urban maintenance, preservation, and the evolving condition of historic public spaces in the heart of the city. Today, Freedom Plaza continues to serve as a symbolic gathering point where history, architecture, and public debate intersect in Washington D.C. 💡 Fun Fact Freedom Plaza sits just steps away from the John A. Wilson Building, where the Mayor of Washington D.C. has her office, placing it directly in the civic and political core of the city. @freedom250 #FreedomPlaza #WashingtonDC #DonaldTrump #America250 #GeovannyVicenteRomero
