no one talks about how much mothers actually sacrifice...she is literally sacrificing her own comfort in the last months of her life for the happiness of her family.

As a hospice nurse, please have a meeting with your social worker and husband when you return. They are a blessing. Best wishes for a gentle transition.

Been through this- I think I needed to hear this persons story and perspective. I’ve harbored so much anger with my mom for not telling me, so much feeling of betrayal 😔

My mom hid her diagnosis until after my wedding. I wasn’t mad. Very grateful. I was sad she had to start dealing with it alone.

My mom had stage 4 melanoma and is cancer free after 3 years. We were shocked and are happy we cancelled our plans to start her on treatment in a trial

There are no wrong and right answers. We know my dad has a couple years left but as someone dealing with anticipatory grief I think what you did was a true gift and some people in my family would have wanted to know asap instead. You have no choice in when you die but you do in how you live until the end. That is your choice and no one else

This absolutely broke me, but for all the right reasons. Talk about the purest definition of the selfless act of being a loving mother and a loving wife. Even though you're fighting the current battle alone, you will have them by your side at the end of the war.

I understand OP's stance. She's probably correct about her husband's reaction. It still breaks my heart. I think of the children and husband not savoring every moment because they don't know. I can see the family being angry about it. I hope they forgive her.

I needed to cry anyways 😭 as a wife and mom, I get it. It’s a sucky situation where no one can wins. Just hoping the family can find a way to work thru this in a healthy manner and eventually find peace.
