@drtoddphillips: Questions for God, Part 6: Job. The story of Job raises some of the hardest questions in the Bible about innocent suffering, divine permission, and whether people can be treated as part of a heavenly test. Job is described as righteous, yet he loses everything: his servants, his home, and his children. And in Job 2:3, God says this happened “for no reason.” Why would Job’s children be part of a test between God and Satan? Why would their lives be the price of proving Job’s loyalty? And how does giving Job more children later make up for the children he lost? This is one of the most morally difficult stories in the Old Testament, especially if God is supposed to be perfectly good. #Exvangelical #Agnostic #Deconstruction #QuestionsForGod #Job

If God is all-knowing, why does it need to test someone????

I mean I do believe in God but you raise a damn good question tho and I wanna ask you all who defend the whole Job thing as hard as you wanted. What if YOU was the one who had to be erased for a test in someone’s faith in God tho? How would you feel and would you be alright with that?

These are the same questions I asked in a discipleship course in grade 6 that began my journey to atheism. God got played by Satan and simply didn’t care about the human suffering — only the loyalty test.

This is an an extreme test of human’s patience. Everything was given to Job by God and it was take away by the permission of God to test the extreme patience and gratitude of Job. He passed! The lesson is simple. Do you serve God only in good times ? Or you love God selflessly even in extreme trials . When Job didn’t have problems and complaints with God and his trials why should we ? The wealth, children, family , and happiness is temporary in this finite life and that’s why we must work more towards after life buy doing best deeds without expecting the outcome in this world . It’s all about faith bro !

That was always an impossible thing for me to understand as a dedicated Christian and pastor. No way to justify it.

Job's story shows us that we have an enemy that does not want us to serve God and will attempt to destroy our lives so that we stop serving God and lose eternal life its a bigger picture.

Cause his kids were sinful. He had to pray for them practically every night because of the debauchery they would have at parties.

I have similar concerns to this as well. But the story I believe it was Abraham who had to hold the staff over his head and the armies would prevail, but if you ever let down his arms, then the other army would win. I may be getting the wrong prophet. But why does weather a man can lift a staff over his head determine if members of the House of Israel, dying war, or the Philistine I believe die in war? Is such a trivial thing to govern life or death. Why the story of Moses does God harden Farrell‘s heart 10 times? And why in the proceeding chapter of the story of Moses does God say he’s gonna harden Farrell‘s heart multiple times? And then harden Farrell‘s heart one last time just to stick it to him to murder his armies? God continually says he’ll Testament. He’s going to demonstrate that he is the god of Israel and the most superior God, and he has an ego that needs to be satisfied by obliterating killing hundreds of thousands venison individuals just to stick it to them. I guess it’s true. The God of the Old Testament is a jealous God. Why did he have to kill every breathing creature in war?

The problem in this question is the assumption that death is pure punishment. for some, it is the start of eternal happiness.

But look at how Job’s story ended: God restored him double what he lost, long life, peace, and honor. The wicked’s comfort is temporary, but God’s plan for the righteous is eternal.

The story is that even if we lose everything God will not abandon us. Also, we are not to desire earthy things. Job truly loved God even in his sorrow to prove to satan that we, humans are stronger than anything satan could get permission to do to us. Plus, through Jobs suffering was the divine intervention where Job asked God for a mediator -Jesus! Who can justify to God…Jesus steps in every time and He never loses
