@nativerestorationforce: If you’ve ever been to the Oregon Coast, then you’ll certainly be familiar with the long walk through the grassy dunes before you land upon the sand. Much of that grass is an invasive species of Marram Grass that was planted to control erosion back in the 30’s, which has taken hold of the coast of the Northwest United States.
Thank you for acknowledging this! makes you wonder what wat there before this grass. I think the same thing when I see invasive blackberry species.

it'll really have to be a field by field, group project, on tearing out maram roots and spreading native grasses, maybe some real companion planted crops, patches of succulents for the sandy vibes, and planting new trees even! let's permaculture the future!

Dang! That goes for miles 😳. Guess I’ll quit griping about the invasive things creeping into my little 1 acre yard.

hi Wes
at first glance, that does not look like European beach grass especially its habitat
it is possibly another invasive grass Reed Canary Grass
European Beach grass grows in hummocks on open dry sands and is not found in the moist flats
your information is correct but your plant ID is suspect
of course
