And I think that should be thirty percent per person. a person should be able to rent a home on their own. too many people get trapped in abusive relationships because of financial dependency.

Unpopular opinion: even if more people could afford to BUY a house, the costs to maintain that house have become completely unaffordable. Renting is probably the best option for most people tbh.

90% of my last check went to rent, I only have $100 for the next 2 weeks. I still have monthly bills to pay. f jobs that start at part time and MIGHT upgrade me to full time. its within walking distance though so now I save on gas and dont have to repair my broken ahh car.

And I hate to say it but like it’s a gamble on whether it’s worth more renting an apartment or owning a house. People are probably gonna disagree but hear me out, as someone who has been living in a house for the last five years, not only our property taxes literally just unknown to the person until they get informed about it when they have to pay, but you have to pay for renovations as well as anything that goes wrong in your house because most of the time it doesn’t fit under the insurance. And even nowadays like the worst houses are going for 150,000 to 250,000

CONGRATULATIONS!! and girl yes, renting was never supposed to be the goal. private equity was not supposed to be 1/4 of the owners (reported…) and until the pendulum swings back to unions and human rights we’re unlikely to see a permanent solution

My husband and I spend about 15% of our income on rent, but that’s because we live in a lower cost of living state with two adult housemates. We are also child free by choice. We would love to live alone someday as we have only ever lived with other people or even move to another state, but it’s just not feasible 😭

My mother is on ssi, her rent went from 900/mth to 1400/mth, she lives in a shoe box. Her ssi doesn't cover rent let alone anything else.
