The issue with Diddy Tensei is that remove the Diddy and the story doesn’t change. Rudeus being a creep is played for laughs, it’s not part of his character development. Remove the creepyness and MT is a story about a selfish shut in who gets another chance to form community and connection. Nothing about that story needs the creepiness

there isn't just a lack of condemnation but he is rewarded for it. and fans will say he redeems himself, but he doesn't even grapple with the fact he is doing anything wrong, much less being shown he is in the wrong. so it just reads a endorsement

why does he need to be condemned? This story is about his growth, his relationships, and his impact on the world. It's not a punishment or redemption story. MT is one of the greatest LNs and animes for a reason. Just because you don't like it it doesn't mean it fails

He doesn't get condemned because the world he reincarnated into is flawed we can see characters having no moral compass. Rudues doesn't get condemned for his actions because most of the actions he does is seen as a normal thing in their world. Before rudues changed he didn't follow a moral compass after growing uphe develops his own moral compass although others don't condem him he condemns himself. For example he is always sick of being in the man God realm because of his past making him feel that he can't outrun his own past and that all the change he went through was for nothing

People who use this argument also forget that everyone (besides us the viewers), the world itself doesn’t know about Rudieus’s reincarnation… simple example would: imagine if we couldn’t hear rudieus’s thoughts and didn’t know about his backstory… he doesn’t get punished (actually he does but let’s pretend he doesn’t) because nobody fuc*ing knows

I think this video entirely misunderstands what narrative function is. Walt and Rudeus are not comparable just because both are morally bad people. Walt’s arc is a downfall tragedy about a man who destroyed his and the people he was supposed to care about it with his pride and ego. Rudeus’s arc is a reconstruction of someone who is so fundamentally broken that he has to completely rebuild himself after wasting his first life. These two arcs require entirely different narrative approaches. BB needs to condemn Walt, that’s the entire point of his arc. MT is asking an entirely different thematic question: “can some one who possesses such a rotten and broken framework reconstruct themselves into someone capable of living meaningfully?” That’s the point of Rudeus’s arc and MT. You can certain critique MT’s execution but saying an apple pie should taste exactly like a pumpkin pie shows that you never looked at the recipe.
