but if tools are work things, but you can categorise them into different names, for example a screw driver will have a different name from a drill machine, so if you want some to bring you a screw driver you can't say work thing because you will literally be asking for a whole bunch of tools,

"Zeug" does not mean "thing"; it originates from the Middle High German word "ziuc" and means more or less something like "equipment" or "device." So "flugzeug" is flying device. Makes more sense right?
