if u'd pay attention to ur students capabilities and methods then maybe u could easily spot if their work is ai or not. these tools are so bullshit at detecting human work, if u write it in a temporary document and then paste it to the final one it already flags as 100% ai, not to mention the fact that they can use these works as data collection, meaning even more essays in the future will be flagged as ai made.

I ran my final master's project through a tool that flags poorly phrased sentences, errors, and plagiarism, and detects AI usage. It flagged a low probability of AI involvement in four passages. I then asked an AI why those specific sections had been flagged and had it rewrite them. When I ran the rewritten passages through the tool, they passed without issue. It’s ironic that my original text was flagged as AI-generated, yet the text actually written by the AI wasn't.

let's just bring back classroom exams. you sit there and write something under supervision. I can think of no better way to actually test people. I.e their own bains and abilities. if u wanna test their ai skills just do it separately lol

Before the days of plagiarism detection software I got pulled up for plagiarism after writing my first assignment for a genetics class (about ethics of genome modulation). I was so upset, had to prove to them that i had studied English language and linguistics the year before and was pretty proud of my literary style.

AI detection software isn't reliable... it can vary depending on which one you use. gptzero can give 70% whilst zerogpt could give 40% and then grammarly 20%. etc
