Not to discredit you but loyya jirga wasn't fully a democratic system due to the fact that its representatives, which included elders, weren't elected by the people. Some people got on this council due to wealth or power, inherited status, etc. they did choose leaders from time to time such as in 1747 but it's too hasty to straight up call it a democracy. So there's some truth of democratic process in that system but it wasn't a democratic system as a whole.

I just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, and it has truly sparked my interest in learning more about the history of Afghanistan. Your videos are so interesting and informative! If you could make a video recommending books to help me better understand the country's history and current reality, I would absolutely love it. I’d also really appreciate any reading recommendations from a perspective that you think provides a thoughtful and well-rounded understanding of the topic. Thank you so much!💗

The US always paints areas where the dominant population is black or brown as primitive, poor desert lands instead of the more complex geographical places they actually are.

one of my favorite things to research is "dystopian" places, because it truly brings depth when you learn how it actually is and works rather than just imagining it as so one dimensional. I remember reading Kite Runner for a class, and felt so emotional at the description of change between how beautiful the towns were and how it ended up.. it's just so sad.

Thank you so much for your education. It was not part of mine and I know it can be exhausting to educate other people/ feel like you have to. I will be dedicating time to educate myself.

Thank you for educating people about Afghanistan. If I hadn't seen this video, I would probably not know any of this. It's so important to stay educated on other countries and cultures.
