Can’t speak for the dads, but as a mom of two who’s expecting her third, I can say this. Give Mom the chance to take a peaceful shower, eat a meal without rushing, and get a little fresh air. Those small breaks mean more than you realize. Even though you’re first-time parents and 99.9% of your conversations will probably revolve around the baby, make an effort to talk about other things too. Ask each other how you’re doing, laugh together, and stay connected outside of parenting. The little things matter—a genuine compliment, watching a show together after the baby is asleep, holding hands, or simply spending a few uninterrupted minutes together. Your baby is incredibly important, but don’t forget that your relationship is too. The strongest gift you can give your child is parents who continue to love, support, and choose each other every day.

Do all the diaper changes and wash the bottles. My wife and I have a 3-week-old, and her first diaper change wasn't until we got home from the hospital. The biggest piece of advice I can give is to take care of your wife's mental well-being. If she has the mental space to rest and recover, caring for your baby becomes so much easier for both of you. Check in with her every day. Ask how she's doing and what you can do to help. Postpartum is real, and your support can make all the difference. When your wife feels loved, supported, and cared for, you'll both be in a much better place to care for your little one together.

Do anything you can! You see bottles, wash them. If you see Amber frustrated or overwhelmed with baby because she can’t figure out what baby wants or if baby is just fussy tap her out. Have a code word or something to tag each other out. Know that her priority becomes baby, it changes us women like instantly so you may feel like you’re not a priority but you are, she needs time to adjust, both of you need time to adjust. Communication is key! Always make time for each other and communicate over everything. Do weekly or daily check ins on each other, it can be feelings or chores or etc. lean into each other more than yall ever have.

Take all the pictures, do middle of the night diaper changes since she is breast feeding, make sure she always has a drink(breastfeeding makes you soo thirsty),if possible stay up with her at night while she feeds(its lonely and breastfeeding can make you very sleepy), check in on her mental health. you've got this! 💙💪

As a mom who breastfeeds you doing the diaper changes especially at night would help her a lot also nursing makes women extremely thirsty, so make sure her water is always filled and that she has snacks

As a mom of 3, I wished my husband helped out when I was sick. As moms we never get that time to rest when sick. So my advice is help out even more if mommy is not feeling well.

Hello, I am not a dad, but I’m a mother lol and I I think what I’m saying is really important as well. One thing I wish we had prepared more for is that your wife may have a really hard time letting you help not because she doesn’t trust you, but because becoming a mom can come with so much anxiety. After I had my son, I trusted my partner completely, but I still felt like I had to be the one to do everything because I was terrified something would happen if I wasn’t the one taking care of him. Even if I finally agreed to take a nap while Dad watched the baby, the second I heard my baby cry, I’d jump right back up because my brain kept telling me, “He needs me.” Looking back, I realize I needed reassurance just as much as I needed sleep. If your wife ends up feeling that way, remind her that it’s okay to rest and that you’re just as capable of caring for your baby. Encourage her to take those breaks, and gently help her understand that she doesn’t have to carry the entire load by herself. Sometimes the biggest help isn’t just changing diapers or making bottles it’s making sure she feels safe enough to let you share the responsibility without guilt.💜 y’all are amazing and I love your content and I’m so excited to see this new journey y’all are on!

postpartum is rough the first few weeks, that being said don't take anything personal. I know I snapped a few times at my husband and mom with my hormones being crazy. just know amber will be going through a lot and ask her how you can help. Keep the food and drinks coming because she will be so hungry all the time! especially if she is breastfeeding. also make sure you give Amber some ME time afterwards. it's hard for moms to step away from their babies to do the basic things like showering. I'm almost 11 weeks postpartum and I struggle to still do this because I feel guilty to step away to shower and do things for myself.
