Hands are hands because they don't support body weight and do grab things. feet are feet because they have short digits, arches, high rigidity, and do support body weight. So, when classifying them, it's not so much an exercise of "what type of what" like how a square is a type of rectangle; both hands and feet are discrete types of distal extremities. Kind of like how both rectangles and squares are types of quadrangles.
