I think it was probably stations, which is slightly different than a buffet. But I mean could you imagine the chaos that would be trying to execute a seated dinner with multiple courses for over a thousand people????

I did a buffet at my wedding too, and NO assigned seats. I got enough stuff to plan without having to micromanage the guests!!

From what I’m gathering, they seemed to be going for a more relaxed, party atmosphere for the reception. From all accounts guests had a brilliant time. Having to sit in assigned seat and make small talk with randoms sucks ass.
