@jack_gpt_: A team in a Wellington warehouse just levitated a half-tonne magnet inside a million-degree cloud of gas. They're building a piece of the sun. OpenStar is a Kiwi startup chasing nuclear fusion, the same reaction that powers the sun, which would mean almost limitless clean energy. Their breakthrough: floating a 550kg magnet inside a 5-metre vacuum chamber heated past one million degrees Celsius. They say it makes them the first commercial company to create and confine plasma using a levitated dipole reactor. When they pulled it off, PM Christopher Luxon and All Blacks legend Richie McCaw were watching from a room above the chamber. The scale of the bet: around 50 companies worldwide are racing for fusion, backed by close to US$10 billion from the likes of Bezos and Gates. OpenStar's prototype cost under $10 million. The NZ government has since backed them with a loan of up to $35 million to build a facility for their next machine. A loan, not a giveaway. Founded in 2021 by physicist Ratu Mataira, in a country already running on 80%+ renewable power. Wild ambition. Sources: Bloomberg/Energy Connects, World Nuclear News, NBR, Beehive.govt.nz, RNZ

fusion requires 100 times the temperature so I think this is likely a very risky business. if they scaled 100X they may have a hope I guess

My heaviest of 2025 (Feb) vs my lightest (December) I'm sharing this post to show you that my body does and will fluctuate throughout the year depending on either my goals - whether I'm aiming to build muscle, lean out or try to maintain or what's happening in life - holidays, birthdays, events etc. I also want to acknowledge and appreciate my feb shape for everything it allowed me to do and actually, without increasing my calories for a period of time I wouldn't have built the muscle I have or responded the way I have if I was on a consistent calories deficit. Ladies, remaining lean year round is HARD and I am not someone to sugar coats things. To achieve the level of body fat percentage I am now comes with its sacrifices (which a lot of people won't tell you). I work damn hard in the gym 6 days a week, I weight train, I do cardio and I have eaten extremely clean 90-95% of the time and I also haven't had a drink. Am I proud of myself for achieving this goal for a bucket list trip ? I absolutely am, but am I also aware that maintaining this won't be possible year round? Absolutely. There are seasons where you're leaner and seasons where you're not and that's OKAY. I will admit, I didn't love my body in Feb because I personally (key word like being leaner because I feel more confident but, I did love it for what it allowed me to do and enjoy. So sometimes you have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, especially for the long term goal. Also you do not have to 'love' your body at all stages because I think that's extremely subjective, but you should love what it can do for you at ALL stages. Moral of the post. The body fluctuates throughout the year and that's okay, be grateful for movement always and if you want a lean physique be prepared to work hard for it💪🏽❤️ #transformation #fitnessjourney #fatloss #fitnessmotivaton #gymgirl
