i kinda did that too, but it's a bit dangerous, because literary french is different from normal french and normal french is different from spoken french. i could read at a very high level but understood almost no actual spoken french and couldn't really produce natural conversational phrases. kind of a different skill to master in my opinion that reading alone will not teach you
