Binge watching has ruined television series. The only way they can reverse this is going back to the weekly episode format with MINIMUM 16 episodes and small seasonal breaks. no one can remember what happened between seasons if they finished it in one weekend A YEAR AGO. The binge format was only ever good for old shows that have finished to completion. It will fail every time for new shows.

Stranger Things is a prime example of why we’re leaving Netflix. It took them YEARS to complete the series and they half 🍑’ed the final season. I completely forgot the plot by the time I was able to see season 5.

Netflix is notorious for cancelling shows after 1 season. Potential viewers don't want to invest their time for something that's going be cancelled after a 8 episodes season.

Like I HAVE to re-watch the first season, because it usually is at least 2 years if not more between seasons. So most details just leave my head. And the seasons themselves don’t occupy me nearly enough because they’re so short, so I tend to turn to things like fanficion or longer book series. It’s just not engaging enough and I feel like a lot of them don’t do great world building.

The 2 year wait kills it for me and I'm VERY patient... but to wait 2 to 3 years for an 8 episode show that doesn't give any answers until the last episode just doesn't work for me.

Not only Netflix, but many shows take forever to give us a season 2 so the moment passes. I miss when tv shows were 22 episodes long and came out with a season every year. Shows like the Gilmore girls would be cancelled in the first season in today’s market.

I'm just tired of having to wait years for just a few episodes. They lose so much momentum. And on top of that, we're bombarded with 100 other shows from all the streaming services within those years we were waiting.

Seasons of shows used to be 22 episodes, over 8 months, with a break in the summer, and a new season starting in the fall. Now a "season" is 8 episodes that all drop at once. You watch them all in a weekend, and the next "season" is in 2-3 years.

They really should commit to 2 seasons. That way they are better flushed out and less time btw seasons. Also 8 episodes per season is a crime.
