Every time the cost of doing business goes up, the public is expected to understand and absorb it. Food, fuel, utilities, fees, services, everything eventually lands on the ordinary Belizean household. But when the household says, “We can’t keep up,” suddenly it becomes a personal problem. Budget better. Work harder. Stop complaining. That is the contradiction. Businesses have input costs, yes. But families have input costs too. Rent, groceries, light bill, school fees, transport, medicine, and survival. The issue is not whether businesses should adjust when costs rise. The issue is that ordinary people rarely get the same understanding when their own costs rise. Support local, yes. But local people are local too. Thinking out loud.
