It’s because the Union Flag is a unification of all the flags of the Kingdoms in the United Kingdom. So St. George’s Cross for the Kingdom of England, St. Andrew’s Saltire for the Kingdom of Scotland and St. Patrick’s Saltire for the Kingdom of Ireland that used to be entirely in the UK when the modern flag was created in 1801. Wales wasn’t included because Wales wasn’t a Kingdom but a principality, that title was dropped for political reasons in 2011 as many Welsh people felt as if it demeaned their country compared to the other constituent countries of the UK. However Wales still only has a Prince and has no title King of Wales and as such can’t be united with the other kingdoms because it isn’t one.

i would love the union jack with the dragon on it but the red clashes and it lowkey looks bad i wish there was a better alternative but the ones people are commenting look ass😭😭
