Star (Y) Connection In a star connection: Phase Voltage = Line Voltage ÷ √3 Current = Phase Voltage ÷ Resistance Example: Line Voltage = 415 V Resistance = 25 Ω Calculation: Phase Voltage = 415 ÷ 1.732 ≈ 240 V Current = 240 ÷ 25 = 9.6 A Result: Current = 9.6 A 5. Delta (Δ) Connection In a delta connection: Phase Voltage = Line Voltage Phase Current = Voltage ÷ Resistance Line Current = √3 × Phase Current Example: Phase Voltage = 415 V Resistance = 25 Ω Calculation: Phase Current = 415 ÷ 25 = 16.6 A Line Current = 1.732 × 16.6 ≈ 28.7 A Result: Line Current = 28.7 A Key Points Single-phase power: � Three-phase power: � In a Star (Y) connection, Phase Voltage = Line Voltage ÷ √3. In a Delta (Δ) connection, Phase Voltage = Line Voltage. Delta line current is √3 times the phase current, while in a Star connection, line current equals phase current.
