According to the block universe theory, loved ones who have passed away are still just as real as we are. They haven’t ceased to exist in an absolute sense but rather the moments in which they were alive still exist as part of spacetime. From our perspective those moments are in the past so we can no longer interact with them, but they’re still there.

There’s a photo google photo of my cat walking into my driveway and me calling her from the upstairs balcony. Everytime I miss her i go to view my address, because at least a version of her is still alive somewhere in this earth.
