Let’s start talking about what it really means to decolonize our spirituality. Decolonization isn’t just about questioning religion. It’s about examining the superiority, hierarchy, racism, systemic oppression, and individualism we’ve internalized, and how those beliefs quietly shape our spiritual practices. It also asks us to look inward. Can we regulate our emotions, tolerate discomfort, take accountability, and respond instead of react? Without impulse control and self regulation, spirituality can easily become another form of avoidance or superiority. A decolonized spirituality isn’t about becoming more “evolved” than anyone else. It’s about becoming more aware, more accountable, and more deeply human.
