Stop tryna crank n work on long tones. Center ur lips and play every note until it no longer sounds shaky. Find what feels comfortable for each note, remember that feeling, and work on maintaining that same ombbusure or however u spell it for each note. I suggest learning scales ofc lol. Start with Bb, C, F, and Eb. Good luck ! You sound gud alrd so im exited to see what you can do once you PLAY WITH CONFIDENCE!!💕

ANHarris9 :
Buzz your mouth piece all day, for several days. Put the horn down and build your lip embouchure. Practice without the horn. It will pay off.

Cranking will come. Your focus is rounding out your sound so that it sounds smooth. Practice long tones, breathing, and play from your diaphragm. Relax your jaw.

Play your whole practice routine and warmup in the 6 inches excercise. Dont try and crank right now because it could permanently damage the muscles in your face.

Focus on a dah syllable when playing and don’t tighten ur core. Everything should feel relaxed if ur going for an hbcu sound don’t force it

Long tones and stop pressing your face into the mouth piece, also… relax your jaw. Bdrop ya jaw. Actually take a deep(er) breathe and put it all together with practice you’ll see a drastic difference soon

Use some of the same rules you used when you played trombone, buzz in the mouth piece without the tuba to find your tone + long tones, center your lips, corners tight, play from your diagram and don’t raise your shoulders when you play, don’t overblow!!!

I swore the start was switched out with a duck call sound. Definitely focus on building strength and controlling the tones before dialing up.

Work on controlling your embouchure (firm corners, loose center), use the syllable “THU”. Lining my bottom lip with my mouthpiece helped me with volume and control. REMEMBER your embouchure placements, the horn doesn’t really change so think of yourself as an extension of it.
