I used to envy my classmates coz they have these last names. I always get teased because mine sounds different. Knowing this now, I'm proud of my last name (maiden name). "The Catoto surname is actually not Spanish. It is a native Filipino name. It most likely comes from the Tagalog language.The name connects to the Tagalog word katoto, which means "friend" or "companion". It is also tied to the word katotohanan, which means "truth". Our prof taught us this sa RPH namin. Kapag na keep mo daw yung filipino surname mo meaning mayaman lang ang nakaka keep nun. And kailangan daw talaga palitan yung surname natin noon dahil sa law na ginawa nila. tanda ko rin na dito sa Baao Cam Sur, halos lahat ng residents B ang surnames nila (up until now) and sa Oas Albay naman mga letter R ang surnames :)

Kinakahiya ko talaga surname ko dati kasi lagi ako binubully nung elem ako "TAMPEPE" kasi surname ko tas babae pa ko😭. But nung nalaman ko pinag mulan non na amaze ako kasi nilaban ng ancestors ko surname namin na galing sa business nila na paghahabi ng baskets, bags, etc. Tampipi talaga yon naging "e" lang kasi nabago alphabet natin and since bisaya nga origin nila at sa Luzon ako lumaki expected na iba meaning non dito and mejo bastos nga peroo si Rizal nga Pepe nickname e sooo dibaa?? nasa tao lang talaga pagiging walang modo minsan

my papa's lolo is pure spanish and Serra apilyedo namin. And may cousin kami not blood related pero pinsan na namin kasi inampon ng lolo ni papa yun at pinalitan ng apilyedo without proper documents. At hanggang sa apo nun na ka edaran ko ay Serra na din ang gamit.

My Filipino Teacher said na Ang original na last names ng mga Filipino ay tagalog/ pilipino words, like mga bulkan, mga gamit dun nila kinukuha. Kaya kapag may mga C,Z,J,Q,V,F, mga last names natin meaning pinalitan ng pang kastila.

Na share samin ni papa on a random night na ang lolo niya sa mother side is Spanish pla. Spanish soldier siya, si Jose Herminigildo. Namatay at nalibing siya sa Misamis Occidental. Pro hindi ni papa matandaan where exactly siya nilibing. Btw, babalik sina Ma&Pa this Aug. 17 sa Aluran, Misamis Occidental pro hnd kami makakasama kasi may 9-5 work na kmi 🥺 Its nice sana pra malaman namin ang kanyang origins
