@meganreid99: Some thoughts as a nurse feeling overwhelmed and burnt out 💭 I’m now on AL and already feeling so much better but recognising these feelings has made me realise that something has to change in order to prevent burnout. You can’t pour from an empty cup ♥️ #nurse #burnout #healthcare #nhsnurse #nursetiktok
I know this is an old video, but I found it and I feel exactly the same way. I haven’t had over a week and a half off in over 2 years. Im drained. I’ve lost my identity, I never see my family anymore, I lost my smile but put on a fake one at work for my patients. I feel like I’m letting my coworkers down, and myself. I care for my elderly grandparents, I have a wedding in 3 weeks that I’m not even prepared for I have 13 shifts in between then and I can’t even fathom it. I want my patients to have the best care, and right now I can’t mentally or physically provide them with that. Thank you for you message❤️

There just isn’t enough support at the moment, especially under the significant pressures the NHS are facing it’s really sad ❤️🩹 I was recently ‘reminded’ on the impact my absence has on the department and the strain it carries on my colleagues, I think this is the working culture we’ve adapted to rather than checking on our staffs wellbeing 🥲

I think we see taking time off for mental health as a sign of weakness and not being able to cope, but in reality, it takes a lot of courage to put yourself first and to recognise that you need to put distance between you and work. Hope you feel better.

I’m a care worker I’ve been doing it on and off for the past 5 years and I feel so burnt out like I have no passion left for the job I’ve always loved but I’m so lost I don’t know what other job to do as this is all I’ve ever known

I totally get this, you feel even more stressed too because of the sickness stages that come with NHS too! I’ve been trying so hard to find jobs within the NHS that pays the same but it’s so difficult😩

im literally on a break from my final placement currently as a third year. my assessor recognised i wasnt at the level i needed to be and saw how distracted i was during our shifts, often found my crying in the bathroom. i still feel guilty for asking for some time off and feel behind other students 😓😓

OMG girl. It's not failure. It's the care we give unconditionally that eventually, without any recognition, that blows out the candle. It separates us from the rest of society. We are the
glue that hold our communities together. Give, give, give and receive nothing. God bless you hun...xxx

The shifts are too intense and too long in the NHS all you do on day’s off is try & be normal. They need to be 8 hour’s & 5 days a week with two days off together so you can have a semi normal life.
