Globus sensation causes a feeling like something is really stuck in your throat. I’d panic over this and mealtimes can feel incredibly challenging and scary as a result. Even swallowing feels terrifying when you’re always aware of a lump type feeling in your throat.  I’d get burning sensations in my throat due to acid reflux, as anxiety can increase acid in the stomach.  Excess acid, along with excess mucus due to stress hormones would irritate my throat and I’d get an “anxiety cough” and panic that I was sick. Aerophagia causes an air bubble type feeling in the throat that is usually due to shallow breathing or eating in a stressed out state. Tight throat muscles can feel like there is scary tightness in your throat and you may fear allergies too. Anxiety can cause the throat muscles to contract, the same way they would when your gag reflex is triggered. This can cause gagging/dry heaving.  You may need to constantly clear your throat too, due to irritation and this can cause you to feel self-conscious.
