I definitely feel like this happened to me. The more I researched, the more podcasts I listened to, the more I looked up what my “symptoms” could be or mean the worse I got. I think the whole “perimenopause” focus is doing this to women everywhere, me included. Making us all think that the more years that go by the more broke we become, the more we need all this sh*t to just be normal again, but it shouldn’t be that way. I wish we were told that we only get better as the years go on. I feel like that would change how everybody thinks and feels about themselves.

40 years ago my mum, then 40, got breast cancer. She refused to go on the minibus with the other cancer patients for their daily radiotherapy sessions, which lasted 6 weeks. She drove there herself. Turned out no-one who took that bus survived, my mum is still here. She had cancer again in 2020, right in the middle of covid, and survived not only the cancer but the gruelling chemo. She's always had the same mindset and has passed that on to me.
