As an IT Administrator for 25 years. NEVER store something as priceless as photos on something as volatile as a portable hard drive. NEVER! You must only use cloud backup service which is duplicated to a secondary cloud. For instance I have an iPhone with 5 phones for wife and 3 kids. We use iCloud pool of 6TB with Google Photos also on phones backing up all new pics so both cloud providers are a clone of each other. NEVER put photos on a physical piece of hardware

Everytime I buy a flash drive to hold my photos, the flash drive stops working and I lose half a decade of photos. Don’t do it.

Saving the photos isn’t the problem it’s that after you save the photos and then try to transfer them to your hard drive. Your computer can’t open iPhone photos because they are HEIC photos unless you convert all of them to JPEG which is a pain in the neck.

You don't need this device. Just buy a standard flash drive of a reputable brand like SanDisk or Samsung and you need a USB A female to USB C male cable, that's it. You plug the USB drive into the USB A female plug of the cable, plug the other end into your phone or tablet. (it's a different plug for an iPhone, so you need a USB A female to male lightning plug.)

as a phone and computer repair shop owner, can confirm. use the CLOUD people. physical media backups are such a boomer move. physical: fire, theft, water, malfunction = memories GONE cloud: does apple/google/amazon EXIST? = memories SAFE
