That’s not a retaining wall, that’s a quickcrete pallet wall

Retaining blocks don’t cost that much more. This is such a waste and is ugly.

Guess you got a Romani driveway and the ground wasn’t prepped? Wonder which will last longer, your junk driveway or your ratty retaining wall??

no it didn't, those bags of concrete cost more than the blocks, plus the blocks are taller so you're not saving a dime

To anyone thinking it won’t last I can assure you that it definitely does. It’s certainly a viable solution in a residential setting. The biggest down side is that it’s very ugly. If you want to have something nice and want to use this as a way to quickly move forward, it can be done as an initial way to support a slope then later use another method of finishing it, such as stacked stones. That way the finished wall doesn’t have to support the weight of the dirt. This wall can give you the retention you need to get the driveway installed, whilst you can worry about aesthetics later. Or not, if you don’t mind looking at. Some people even cover it with some dirt and vines or bushes for a cheap way to hide it.
