@theenthub: During an interview on What Now? with Trevor Noah, Idris Elba recalled that before auditioning for The Wire, casting director Alexa Fogel gave him one piece of advice: “If you go in, you cannot let them know you aren’t American.” At the time, the show’s creators wanted authentic American actors because the series was set in Baltimore. Elba kept up an American accent throughout four rounds of auditions. During the final audition, the producers asked where he was from. Thinking they had figured him out, he admitted he was from East London.
