If your hospital does not count your LVN/LPN experience, LEAVE RIGHT AWAY!

A nurse is a nurse. Doesn’t matter title, we show up to do the same job! 🫶🏻

I’m an LPN and have the same exact job duties as people who have their BSN at my job. I also get paid close to what an RN makes & I have zero school debt. Honestly, it depends on what setting you are in. I’ve trained people who have their BSN. I feel that people underestimate LPN’s too much.

The same job that I have been at as an LPN counted my 6 years, as 0 ZERO!!! towards my RN rate. and reset my seniority....... put my twos notice in immediately.

lol it’s a lower degree, why would experience doing a DIFFERENT job count towards experience in a higher job?

I can do as an LPN on a med/surg floor everytbing an RN does, Including the assessments even initially if the RN signs off. I have trained RNs so for the people saying its different training is out of their mind. My supervisors literally ask me for opinions and what to do in certain situations.

It shouldn’t count as any RN experience. It’s a different role. LPN and RN are not the same!!!

Only those who have never started from thr bottome assume LPNs and RN are different. I know they have different roles, but pt care is the same. I am about to graduate with my RN and started as a tech.

Apparently this is a hot take but RN and LPN are not the same and shouldn’t be treated as such. Of course your time as an LPN doesn’t count as experience as an RN. It’s tow different jobs!

You can't do initial assessments, spike blood products or push cardiac meds in most states as a LVN/LPN.

Be glad they count it as all. An LPN is NOT an RN

I was told my 23 years of LPN didnt count at all. That I am an RN with no experience!!! Thats why I WILL NEVER work in the hospital!!

LPNs deserve so much more respect than they’re given. I might have more schooling than some with my BSN, but I’ve worked with some incredible LPNs who taught me SO much when I was a new grad.

Like who even came up with this? They don’t subtract people’s time as a CNA when applying to nursing jobs?

LPNs are valuable, important team members. This completely makes sense though. You had a smaller scope of practice, shorter/less expansive education, and a different title. The experience sets you up for success, but it is not the same.

Personally I think CNA work should give you at least a little over the min pay when you apply to your first rn job
