If there’s a gap at the top then tap both pieces of crown up with a block and hammer. Then if there’s a gap at the bottom between the wall, use a shim

old school way is always the best, cut 45degrees and cope it back and will always fit against a matching piece

Cut 2 small pieces start out with 45 degree upside and backwards and test in corner you get angle and location then mark bottom and top on wall and keep crown in those parameters cope is preferred unless it’s mdf

The corners are built out with compound when it gets taped you can cut the trim to make up for the 6 inches in the corner that is built out.
