it's technically canon. the emperor has been around for hundreds of thousands of years, and was flat said to be great leaders throughout human history to lead them into a specific future. it's not wild to think he was George Washington at one point

The Emperor of Mankind created the United States to just see what would happen, and then retired after a while because he thought everyone can handle themselves, which is how term limits became a thing, a couple hundred years he saw the empire he built got corrupted from within, then he decided that Humanity can’t be left alone to their own devices so he decided to start the Imperium of Mankind to unite Humanity under one single banner

Mine is Malcador was actually the true instigator of the Heresy, on behalf of the Emperor in the warp/dark king to bring about his creation (Warp emperor did warp shenanigans to recruit Malcador). That said, I’m only starting in on lore. There is so much.
