@sarah.ccz: Step-by-step investing tutorial with @Wealthsimple ! Here are the 4 decisions you have to make when it comes to investing: 1. Choose an investing platform (ex. WS, @Questrade , @Fidelity Canada , @getinvestly , etc.) 2. Choose an account to invest in (ex. TFSA, FHSA, non-reg, RRSP, RESP…) 3. Choose your investment type (ex. single stocks, ETFs, GICs, bonds, cash…) 4. When to buy them (ex. recurring, lump sum, etc.) and when to sell them (ex. are you holding it short or long term) If you also want to invest with Wealthsimple, comment ✨“WS”✨to get $25 when you sign up, a chance to win 💸1M, and a 📈5-step checklist I used to get started in investing. #investing #studentfinance #phdstudent #money #genz

i haven’t told anyone i know about my trading journey because it was really a rough journey. i started learning the day i turned 18, began playing with prop firms almost immediately with no job and no money. no clue what i was doing trying to learn to trade on my own. i eventually got a job again and racked up some money to finally pass funded accounts. i was doing really well for my self, from february to june i made roughly $30000. decided to buy a car and pay $15000 down for it. at this time also that $15000 was all i had . i lost most of money to blown evals. i bought the car and had very little money left to continue trading evals. i ended up zeroing out my bank account to evals and at this time i had also recently quit my job thinking i had it good. so now i have an expensive car and insurance with no income and no way to make income. for about 6 months i had no job no money and still no way to make money. could barely afford the car, hit my lowest point in my life. i had no clue where i wanted to go. i was supposed to go to college but ultimately decided that was not the life i wanted. never quite had any suicidal thoughts but i got probably the closest i have ever been to depression after hitting such a high. i’m still trying to work through things over a year later but now i am doing 10k/month and have recently been moved to live with topstep. the moral of the story is life is just like trading, there’s going to be ups and there’s going to be downs but long term there will always be a higher high. don’t let a short term, like a day or a week, define the rest of your life. there is always tomorrow. there is always next week. and i 100% agree with you, find a trading community. this is not something that’s easy to do alone if you're looking to get into trading dm to join my circle

Hi so when opening a TFSA on wealthsimple. There’s an option that says “Build portfolio” where I can distribute which ones I want in there. But if I’m just starting out, is it best to do that or press the “Trade stocks and options” ? Any help would be great. I just saw that it’s a beta option so I wasn’t sure if that was the move
