Always check the filters and thermostat batteries before calling out the HVAC techs! You can also try washing out the outdoor compressor (not sure if that’s what it’s called) but my HVAC tech hubby always tells people for troubleshooting!

74 is still too hot for me. I’m such a baby anymore. I grew up in Florida but I developed POTS in my late teens. Now I can’t do anything over 70 🫠

Idk if Texas cools down a lot at night but if it does look into getting a whole house fan. It’s amazing! It brings in all the cool night air and cools everything down so fast and uses way less electricity than an AC.👌🏻

I got home Sunday from being out of town and it was 83 in the house, so I feel your pain 😩 (also in TX). Finally got someone out here yesterday evening around 745p and it was a lovely 88 in the house 🥵. He said it was a blown capacitor. But after he replaced that he found out it was also the compressor. So he said I have to turn the AC completely off every time I leave the house, because I have to keep an eye on the outside unit for it to do this shit again 🤦♀️. His suggestion was to just keep replacing capacitors as they blow bc that’s $350/ea vs a new unit at $13k+

You can check your coils on outside units. Those tend to get dirty as some people don’t know they need regular cleaning. Husbands installs HVAC systems for a living. Hopefully it’s a simple fix like a capacitor or something

if you can make it work, I highly recommend solar panels with a generator, or a gas generator. worth it's weight in gold!! so worth it.

we do not have ac because we live very north but we do have some 90°+ days. a 500 foot portable unit with 1 or 2 rotating units keeps our main living areas a pretty good temperature if you want a pretty cheap backup for if that happens again!

Its 97° here in AZ the last i checked at 7:30am. It is supposed to hit 112° today and 114° tomorrow. 🥵☀️🔥♨️🏜️🪭🌶️😎. Its been hot for awhile and will probably be triple digits now until October.

Omg with my perimenopause I would die. I would sleep in the fridge. 😂😂 I try to get my room as cold as possible. We have ac units in most of our bedrooms but hopefully one day I can afford central air.
