I really believe that he was arrogant, but him not getting an invite to the gs was such a huge turning point in his life that it brought him to the humble ratio he is now

Hello, this is my take ☺️: He is a 'proud' young scholar, not an 'arrogant' man. Arrogance comes from the belief that you are better and smarter, even though not, it is dependent on social hierarchy (meaning they dont work with other people as they think they are the ultimate top). While Proud comes from independent self-esteem and actual assessment of their accomplishments. Ratio has achieved many degrees and surpassed a test his own professor couldnt do, so he is proud of his accomplishment. The members of genius society already acknowledged him as a true genius too. But it would be correct that he was still humbled when he was rejected. There is a paper thin difference between proud and arrogance but it is noticable. He is a proud scholar back then that would not be ashamed to boast off his achievements if questioned, but it would not be perceived as arrogance.

OH I GET TO TALK ABOUT THIS okay I do absolutely believe at some point he was arrogant and morally blind, too. Especially since he was someone who willingly helped the IPC build a super weapon which, if I'm not mistaken, wiped out several planets. He was blindly following Nous, desperate for THEIR approval and acceptance that he went to drastic, harmful lengths to get there. Just for it to fall flat. I 100% believe he learned to be modest or humble because of guilt and regret from his part in that super weapon. He learned first hand what blind following and arrogance can lead to.

well the idea that knowledge should be gatekept is far from his ideology when his goal is to eradicate ignorance. Ignorance = willingly be unknowing/uneducated, ergo being eradicated by educating. I think more so it meant that many don’t have or had access to it l, like Aven for ex., or well not the intellectual capacities as you said. Basically I’m saying I agree with your current understanding 😀
