The KJV says: “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing…” The word “thing” is not explicitly present in the Hebrew. It is supplied by the translators to make the English sentence read naturally. Why “finds good” makes sense The Hebrew ṭôv (טוֹב) is an adjective meaning good, but Hebrew can use an adjective substantivally—essentially, “what is good,” “goodness,” or “a good thing.” So these translations are expressing essentially the same idea:
