Aussie here yep you need to seal the window up properly. Also maybe look at investing in a split system unit or ducted air con for the entire house as I think you will eventually need to 😂🥰

Hello Bees :
The dehumidifier feature is a game changer. Even on cooler days, getting the moisture out of the air will make you so. much more comfortable!

If you know it’s going to be hot the next day go ahead and turn it on. It’s easier for the unit to keep a room cool than to cool off a hot one

As an American I also HIGHLY recommend ceiling fans!!! They do an amazing job at cooling a room with minimal retrofitting required (there are so many beautiful designs now too) they also can help move warm air back down in winter saving in heating costs

make sure to run it once or twice a month in colder months. it keeps the seals lubricated with oil and helps prevent refrigerant leaks.

it'll be more efficient on cooling, and in turn energy use, if you block out the sunlight. brick has high thermal mass, but it needs a heat source to absorb, store, & release the heat. the sunlight inside is also the heat source for the interior layer of brick.

Portable AC is very inefficient, especially with a single hose. A small window unit would actually be able to hit 20 degrees no problem.

From an American in Phoenix It’s better to keep it running continuously even if you raise it up a couple degrees when you’re not home than to shut it off. It takes far less energy to cool off. Interesting that we keep our house at 22c / 72f but it’s also currently 45c / 113f outside

The dehumidifing will make it feel cooler . So that 2-3 degree drop will feel much larger.

We got a piece of rigid insulating foam, cut it to the size of the window opening and cut a hole to fit the exhaust hose and taped it all in place. It is much more secure and efficient than the fabric window kits and it works with any type of window

As an American I get so sad for the kids especially that don’t have ac or even a proper fan. I’m so happy you decided to keep your family comfortable and SAFE! You’re gonna love it and every summer wonder how you lived without it!
