Yeah all pilots have to meet standards to get their wings. Also it wasn’t new hiring, but new pilot trainees.

understandable argument, but it puts a skilled individual in a bad position, because first you have to get out of the quota to be in the same position as others are starting from. Only after this will your skills really be taken into account (if even then)

do you think that every time you get on a plane, the pilot is the best pilot in the world? or is there simply just a minimum bar of competency required to become a pilot. there are good pilots, and then there are just good enough pilots. the point is, as long as the pilot is good enough, why not give the opportunity to people who have a less optimal opportunity.
