At this point, nurses have become everything—nurses, plumbers, technicians, cooks, administrators, and so much more. Behind the uniform, we’re human too.
Every day, the Emergency Department sees an overwhelming number of patients, while many inpatient beds remain occupied for prolonged periods. We do our best to ensure every patient is cared for safely, whether they’re waiting in the ED, admitted to a ward, or being discharged home. No matter where a patient is, medications, treatments, and close observations must still be carried out. If these are missed, the responsibility falls on healthcare workers.
We understand that waiting is frustrating. We know it’s exhausting, especially when you’re worried about your loved ones. But shouting at healthcare workers won’t make a bed appear, create more staff, or speed up the system.
If you want change, direct your concerns to the people who can improve the healthcare system. Advocate for better healthcare funding, more nurses, more doctors, and more resources.
Despite the shortages, we continue to show up every day, doing our best to care for every patient and save lives. All we ask for is a little patience, kindness, and understanding.
