Betty is one of my favorites because of the line “I’ve fought for plenty in my life, I know when it’s time to give up”. Because it’s true. Despite her very clear flaws, she found the courage to leave Don. She engages in feelings for someone who reciprocated it to her and I feel genuinely cared for her (Henry), she did go back to school and she made it right with Sally. She did good I feel in the end despite her fears of change. She did it.

I journaled about the show when I rewatched it for the first last year after watching it when it originally aired and I found it very poignant that a woman who never got to decide for herself how to live was able to decide how she’s dies. It’s beautiful and tragic.
