The opticians have never told me to not wear in water. I only found out today. So thank you and the others who have posted for saving us other contact wearers x hope you get better soon x

My optician told me not to wear lenses even in the shower or washing my face because there may still be still be bacteria from the taps etc n can cause infections etc, the lenses have to be sterile!

did this take a while to happen? i’ve opened my eyes in the pool with my contacts, shower in them, fallen asleep with them, etc. i’ve been wearing contacts since i was 2. my mom used to put them in for me. maybe it’s the brand!!! i use acuvue oasis🙏🙏

your the 2nd person ive seen with Acanthamoeba keratitis, the first person I saw i took it as a sign to stop showing and swimming with my contacts on mind you ive been wearing contacts for 25+yr. Im so sorry this happened to you prayers for your full recovery

Ive worn contacts 16 years n ive worn in pools rivers lakes beach slept in them 5 days showered in them did basically all extremes u can thibk of nothing crazy happened but i know its by chance or area i live in but i wont take the chance anymore

I wear daily contacts and I know the risks are the same but please don't wear monthly lenses, they're not recommended usually because the risk of infection is higher

I’m genuinely asking this out of curiosity. I wear dailies and I swim in my pool and shower with them in all the time. What am I supposed to do when going in the pool, just sit there blind and get a migraine from my blurred vision? I don’t understand how this happens if you take out your contacts that evening.

I always shower with mine in 😭 should I really be taking them out? My vision is terrible It would be hard to shave without seeing but also if I went blind I wouldn’t be able to see at all… should I take out when I shower???
