This! Real coparenting happens when ppl stop focusing on the relationship that could have been. Your child didn’t end a relationship so they shouldn’t feel any of that.

I’ve been asked several times why I didn’t act crazy for what happened. …Bc it doesn’t matter anymore. it’s in the past. What happened was supposed to happen. All in gods hands. The ONLY thing that matters is what’s best for our daughter! U are so right !

My ex pays the mortgage on the house my daughter and I live in so we can stay safe and in a good school district. I send home cooked food over to him and his families house when I make something. I watch my daughter’s little brother when they need a trusted sitter. They drive me to my appointments sometimes as I have health issues. We do every holiday and birthday together so she doesn’t have separate memories. He did me dirty back in the day, but he hasn’t hesitated to make our separate living situation as easy as possible every step of the way. I forgave him, and his actions made that happen.

This only works if both parents see the bigger picture. Getting someone who refused to care that how they treated me when we were together affected our child’s wellbeing to suddenly care about our coparenting relationship and the impact it has on our child is very hard.

I think the most important thing I’ve learned is that just because he wasn’t a good man to me, doesn’t make him a bad father. My child doesn’t deserve a chaotic household, and me bringing relationship drama into it will give him one

I agree with everything you said except the “18 years old” part. Me and my ex will come together for our boys for life. The graduation. The wedding. The birth of our grandkids. Grandkids birthdays. ALL of it. I am also super blessed with an amazing coparent so I hear everything else you’re saying!
