@markus_marthaler: Most swimmers have a stroke that looks completely different on their strong side versus their weak side. They usually have no idea, because they have never felt both sides in isolation. The strong side gets stronger simply through repetition. It handles more of the workload without anyone deciding that on purpose, because it feels more natural and produces better results, so the body defaults to it under fatigue or effort. The weak side quietly falls further behind every session, doing less work while learning less. This shows up in ways that are easy to miss during normal swimming. A shallower catch on one side. A shorter pull. Less rotation. None of it obvious in the moment, all of it adding up over thousands of strokes. Single arm freestyle with the lead arm extended is the fastest way to expose it. One arm pulling through a full cycle while the other holds position removes the compensation the stronger side normally provides. The difference between sides becomes impossible to ignore within a few strokes. Once the gap is visible, the fix is simple. More attention to the weak side, not more effort. Feel the catch there specifically. Match the rotation. The goal is not to make both sides identical overnight. It is to stop the gap from growing every time you swim. Which side is your weak side, and how did you find out? Tell me in the comments.

My left side as I only breathe on my right. And I can feel it, sense it. I am tempted to push myself to learn how to breathe on the left, without the anxiety that causes 🤦🏽‍♀️
