so, im a car mechanic, and we had batteries overload once in school. well. the moment my classmate pulled the charger off, the spark ignited the batteries and they exploded. batterie acid everywhere. firefighters came. we all had to decontaminate at school. I had burns on my shoulders where the acid had hit me 💀 please, take the 'foul smell' serious

I just moved in with my grandparents for college like a month ago and the day my parents left our trash cans caught on fire from what we believe was a battery, and bc we live in an hoa the trash cans are supposed to be up against the house. We were lucky and caught it before it did to much damage to the house but it’s so scary to think abt. Keep ur trash cans away from the house, and don’t put batteries in the trash can, take them to a recycling center if you can, or please wait until trash day to put them out there

everyone’s mentioning ‘over reacting’ but they must be missing the part where it was assumed to be a gas leak? 😭 that is 100% an emergency. it will in fact lead to death.

Seems like these kids toys that need big batteries are not safe, I wonder how many fires these have started this year. I have seen like 10 stories and I bet there is a lot more.
