Mimie🫧 :
was only nine years old when I lost my father. At that age, I did not understand what death really meant. I only knew that someone who made life feel safer was suddenly gone. It was just my mother, my siblings, and me. From that day, life became a different kind of childhood. I watched my mother struggle, watched my sisters grow, and somewhere along the way, I stopped feeling like a child. I learned to be strong when I wanted to cry and to keep going when I wanted to give up. Neither my fathers family nor my mothers family was really there for us the way we needed, so we held onto each other. I went to stay with my mothers sisters daughter because I wanted to work, earn money, and help my family. One day she travelled and left her son in my care. That night, one of her friends came and forced himself on me. That experience left a deep pain and trauma that I still carry. After that, sleeping became difficult, I became afraid and scared of men, and sometimes the memories came back. I was already a girl who had lost her father, and now I was carrying another pain I never deserved. We are five siblings. Some are in SHS, one is in JHS, and the others are preparing for SHS. I want to support them and give them the education and future I once wished for. Even when I am tired, I keep going because they are part of the reason I cannot give up. I may have lost my father and pieces of my childhood, but I did not lose my purpose. I was once a little girl who needed someone to protect her, but life forced me to become the person trying to protect everyone else. The story I buried, I can’t keep it anymore 😭😭😭
