@quietfirssg: We're a married couple in our early 30s living on one salary in Singapore. Take-home is roughly $7,000/month after CPF. No kids yet, no inheritance, no side hustle — just a system we've built and refined. Here's the full split: 💰 Invest & Save — $2,000 (29%) This is split three ways: $1,000 into our SRS account, invested into the ISAC ETF via Stashaway's ETF Explorer and SRS contributions reduce our taxable income. Another $500 goes into the IMID ETF via IG Markets, zero commission, with a 3% p.a. interest programme on the first $50k in shareholdings (Note: this requires one qualifying trade per month and terms may change). The last $500 sits in cash savings as a liquidity buffer, untouched unless needed. 🏠 Live — $4,658 (67%) This covers family allowance for parents ($1,000), food and dining including groceries and JB trips ($1,500), travel savings for 1–2 trips a year ($700), home and living costs ($350), transport ($300), health and personal care ($200), insurance ($80), and lifestyle/misc including entertainment, subscriptions, and gifts ($528). 🧾 Float — $342 (4%) Buffer for the unexpected. What's NOT in this budget: our HDB BTO mortgage (~$1,200/month) is fully covered by CPF Ordinary Account, so it doesn't create any cash outflow, that's why it's excluded here. We also haven't optimised CPF with voluntary top-ups yet, prioritising liquidity and market returns at this stage. Your numbers will look different. The principles: Invest first, live intentionally, keep a float. Save this if it helped you rethink your own Singapore budget. Not an insurance agent. But $80 for insurance doesnt seem to be enough. Medical getting more expensive. More money definitely needs to go into that. Keep it up!

At this income, there’s no need to contribute to SRS.

Good starting point, but $80 for insurance is too little. It seems that neither of you has the hospitalization riders, which are essential to obtain (at least in my opinion).

Dangerous to just have a single income. One of the partners not working? No kids why don’t work? Later if that sole income owner got retrenched how?

Hello there, keep up the good work! I can see that you are having a good start by having a clear and defined budget and financial plan which you yourself know best suit to you current situation. there is no one size fit all kind of financial path and I'm sure as you learn more you will adjust your financial plan accordingly on your way to financial independence.

Don't forget to set aside your 6 to 12 months emergency fund. Especially important since you're single income. Job market is super volatile.

Without kids, staying in hdb fully funded by cpf, and travel twice a year. Life’s a breeze

agree with the low insurance comment. Even for me as a SINK @ 35, my insurance is about $200 and that’s somewhat basic coverage. Also u can explore geoarbitrage (since one of u is not location dependent?) to lower ur FI number + possibly reducing expenses for eg dining (while maintaining quality of the food). And another layered source of income could be renting out ur rooms (if MOP-ed) since u no kids, but only if comfortable and privacy trade-off. But cheers to embarking on the FIRE journey! 🔥
