Eagle’s Nest is a hard one. I definitely do not condone someone burning it down, but I do understand why people would want it gone. It holds dark history. However, the Bavarian government decided to turn it into a tourist spot right after the World War II to try to help the local area’s finances. It was costly to go up but all money went to non-profit organizations. When we were up there last year, the feeling was two-fold. I loved it because of the views and the cross standing in opposition of the sinister things that happened there, but it was also a very eerie feeling too. I’m sad it burned down but hope they keep the location a place people can still visit. The road up to Eagle’s Nest is definitely not an easy one (see my next video that I’ll do showing the bus ride 😅). We were supposed to actually hike the whole mountain with our kids this past summer when we were in Bavaria and Austria, but it was raining and cloudy the day we were there so we did the salt mine tour instead (which was also great). We did get to drive past the mountain and told the kids, “That is where Eagle’s Nest is located”. Hopefully we can still do the hike one day. The views and are stunning and I hope that the cross is still standing. ❤️ #eaglesnest #germany #bavaria #historytok #cross
