@cbsnews: President Trump said Tuesday "we're going to see" when asked whether there will be any further U.S. troop drawdowns in Europe. "We weren’t treated well because we did something in Iran,” he said sitting alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the NATO summit in Turkey. “I was testing to see whether or not they’d be there because I’d long said that we help them, but I’m not sure that they’d be there for us." A slow reduction of the U.S. military footprint in Europe goes hand-in-hand with Trump’s expectation that NATO countries spend increasing portions of their GDP on defense. The Pentagon has already announced a plan to withdraw about 5,000 U.S. troops from Germany, as well as reductions in fighter jets, tanks and other equipment. #trump #nato #europe #military #news
