insane. i've seen people say hyperfemininity IN GENERAL is closer to drag than cishetero femininity in the sense that it is queer expression, but if i were to take that idea and express it to one racial group it would be to WHITE women. because they are the group with the most ability to choose how they express themselves. and what is drag if not a form of self expression? the CONCEPT of saying black hyperfeminine women specifically is closer to drag is genuinely deranged for so many reasons that you listed and more. like how it enforces the existing masculinization of black women

Femininity has become white washed and is now solely seen as a tool of self- expression. But for most women, it is a socially coercive tool, women have to perform femininity to humanize themselves. Even white hyperfemme women started performing femininity to that extent so that they could protect themselves and other women, to shift the attention and danger elsewhere.
